Hi everyone, I’m a Hong Kong overseas student studying at Knox Grammar School. I’m also a senior boarder. Knox Grammar gives you a great experience to enjoy your study life in Australia. The main difference between studying in Australia and Hong Kong is the study environment. When I was studying in Hong Kong I sat in the same seat for all classes for the entire day. By the end of the day I felt extremely tired and dull. But studying in Australia is a totally different learning environment, we walk around to different class rooms between each change of subject, this allows me to refresh my brain for the next class.
As a senior boarder of Knox I would say it is a great experience to be a boarder, the new boarding Centre and the new system combine to make my study life much more pleasant and happy in Australia. The teachers and staff understand the feelings of being an overseas student. They genuinely care about you, in boarding they provide and create lots of activities and opportunities for you to make new friends and build up new relationships whilst studying in Australia, to make you feel warm and welcome.
As I say Knox is a great school, there is a scheduled study time after school from Monday to Friday, during that time a teacher will come in to assist the boarders with their assessments and school work, and keep every boarder on top of their work. For 2011 HSC results many boarders attained 90+ in their final marks. They also provide study group sessions to help you improve through discussing and understanding ideas with the other boarders. It is a friendly and warm learning environment.
